More than 200 jobs have been created by client companies of the Innovation in Business Centres (IiBC) in GMIT Castlebar and Galway with some 90 being created in Mayo since the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at GMIT Castlebar opened its doors six years ago (2006). The IiBC at GMIT offers desk space, office space, and virtual space to new start-up companies and also runs enterprise programmes funded by various enterprise agencies.

Business and enterprise was shown to be alive and well at the most recent MOCC (Mayo Open Coffee Club) meeting held at the Innovation in Business Centre, GMIT, Castlebar, where a number of enterprise support representatives passed on vital information to more than 40 entrepreneurial thinkers who turned up for the event.

December’s Mayo Open Coffee Club meeting will take place on Wednesday, December 5, in the Innovation in Business Centre (IiBC) at GMIT Castlebar at 9.30am and there will be a distinctly Christmas feel to the event.

Members of the St Colmans Business Network International Chapter, Claremorris, had cause to celebrate recently after they were recognised as being among the top BNI chapters in Ireland. The intensive programme, which provides entrepreneurs with a wide-range of training, mentoring and advice, over a four-month period, is funded by South West Mayo Development Company [LEADER] and operated through the Innovation in Business Centre [IiBC] at GMIT Castlebar.
